Grundfos 3-Stage Booster Set

Components

3 x DN32 Composite NRVs

Pressure Verified

6.0 bar

BACKGROUND

The Challenge

Aquaflow Services attended a site in London following reports of reduced system performance and erratic pump behaviour on the building’s cold water booster set. The installation is a three-stage Grundfos unit responsible for maintaining cold water pressure across the premises.

On arrival, our engineers identified the root cause, the composite non-return valves on the discharge side of all three pumps were sticking internally. This was allowing backflow between cycles, disrupting pump sequencing and causing inconsistent discharge pressures, a serious reliability concern for a busy commercial site of this scale.

OUR APPROACH

How We Fixed It

Step 01
Safe Isolation & LOTO
The booster set was electrically isolated and full lockout/ tagout (LOTO) procedures were implemented before any work commenced.
Step 02
Removal & Inspection
Existing DN32 non-return valve (NRV) assemblies were removed and connections inspected for wear and damage. All surfaces were cleaned and prepared.
Step 03
Installation of Genuine Grundfos NRVs
New genuine Grundfos DN32 composite NRVs were fitted with new seals and tightened to the manufacturer’s specification, with correct flow direction confirmed.
Step 04
Recommissioning & Testing
The system was refilled, vented and recommissioned. All three pumps were tested in manual and automatic modes, with 6.0 bar discharge pressure confirmed and no leaks detected.
